Lake Iseo is characterized by small settlements along its shores, with ancient architectures and enhancing rural corners. The Bergamo coast of Lake Iseo offers views of a rare beauty and highly diversified landscapes: rocky walls, creeks, olive groves, bays and historical villas lapped by the water. In the centre of the lake, the green Montisola and the small islets of San Paolo and Loreto, clearly visible during romantic boat trips or water sports (motorboats, sailing, windsurfing…). The local traditions are also rediscovered through the gastronomic recipes and fine wines of the Calepio Valley, to be enjoyed in the numerous restaurants and farms where the refined flavours of the lake encounter the stronger products typical of the mountains. Lovere, in the Upper Sebino stands on the shores of the lake, with the important art gallery of the Tadini Academy and the Basilica of St. Mary in Valvendra. Continuing along the western shore towards the south, after Castro, the area is particularly beautiful for its nature, where there are vertical rocky faces, tunnels and roads excavated in the rock. Towards Riva di Solto, the landscape becomes gentler and the vegetation unexpectedly becomes Mediterranean: holm oaks, olive trees and cypresses. As in Tavernola Bergamasca (splendid frescoes by Romanino in the church of St. Peter), Predore (small church of St. George) and lastly Sarnico, the resort of the Lower Sebino well known for its noble Art Nouveau villas, the “Gianni Bellini” Art Gallery and the elegant lakeside front.
